Frogmore Mill, where Benjamin Aylwin was the miller in the 19th century.
Obituary of Mr H Barnard, whose funeral was attended by 'Aylwin', christian name not supplied
In May 2014, Brian Aylwin contacted us from South Africa, asking for help in researching ‘my great, great, great grandfather, Benjamin Aylwin who was a resident in East Meon and was running the local mill’ Brian needed to convince the authorities for visa purposes that he was descended from British stock. An Aylwin was mentioned in a newspaper clipping as a guest at the funeral of Mr H Barnard, farmer at Park Farm, but no christian name was given. David Hopkins was able to establish that Brian was not descended from the Frogmore miller but from Frederick Benjamin Aylwin, who migrated to South Africa in 1903. The exchange of emails is attached as a PDF, as is a list of descendants of Thomas Aylwin.
