Originally a sub-manor of East Meon, the history of Bereleigh is recorded from the 14th century. It is now the only one of the original East Meon manors still to be privately owned, by Bill Tyrwhitt Drake.
This page features a recording of a talk given by Bill to the East Meon History Group in April 2020 on the development of shooting at Bereleigh. A transcript and a map of Bereleigh woods are available as downloads.
It also contains extracts relating to Bereleigh from the Victoria County History and from F.G.Standfield’s ‘A History of East Meon’.
