Nellie Christmas married Herbie Goddard in 1933, when he was working as chauffeur to the owner of The Court House, Morley Horder. The full story of Herbie is told on the history website, click here. He was very active in the village both as owner of the garage at Glenthorne House and as chair of both the Parish Council and the VIllage Hall. The Goddards’ daughter Hazel married Chris Pamplin, who ran the garage for some years after Herbie’s death, and continued to run a taxi service.
