Looking west down the High Street in 1909.
1910, this shows Forge Sound with white exterior, the canopy over the butcher's shop at Riverside, and Hockley Cottage, since burned down, on what is today Washer's Triangle.
Bunting on Forge Sound, celebrating the Queen's Coronation in 1953. The cottage visible in older photographs is no longer there.
These photographs of Forge Sound and its neighbouring buildings were taken at the beginning of the twentieth century. At the time, there was a building to the west of Forge Sound, which was destroyed by fire. Washers Triangle now provides an open aspect on that side.
